CMS Hosting Second PAID Act Webinar
On August 8, 2021, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that it will host a second Provide Accurate Information Directly (PAID) Act webinar on September 9, 2021 at 1:00 PM EST. The announcement is located on the “What’s New” page of the CMS website (Mandatory Insurer Reporting for Non-Group Health Plans section) and is accessible here.
This second webinar follows CMS’ original June 23, 2021 PAID Act webinar, and it will cover “the impacts to Section 111 Non-Group Health Plan (NGHP) Responsible Reporting Entities (RREs) related to the PAID Act.” The webinar will also be followed by a live question and answer session.
Enacted on December 11, 2020 with an implementation date of December 11, 2021, the PAID Act will provide transparency for workers’ compensation, general liability, and no-fault payers into an injured party’s Medicare Advantage (Part C) and Medicare Prescription Drug (Part D) enrollment information.
Thus, the implementation of the PAID Act will result in substantive changes to the current query response file for MMSEA Section 111 reporting. This webinar is particularly timely given that the reporting “testing” period will begin very soon on September 13, 2021, which is just a few days after the webinar. As noted in our prior blog, we recommend that RREs participate in (and take advantage of) this testing period before the PAID Act goes “live” on December 11, 2021.
